UNDP prize for RFE/RL’s Moldova Service

(Prague / Chisinau) RFE/RL’s Moldova Service has been awarded the grand prize for “Promotion of Human Rights in Mass Media” by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Moldova.

This year, the annual competition consisted of 30 journalists and 42 non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Winners were judged by an anonymous jury comprised of Moldovan media representatives and experts from international NGOs, including Transparency International Moldova and the Soros Foundation in Moldova.

“To be recognized by the UNDP in the field of human rights promotion is an honor,” said Moldovan Service Director, Oana Serafim. “Our Chisinau bureau colleagues have worked tirelessly in the their efforts to provide Moldovans with independent, accurate news and information. To receive an award like this from our peers in the fields of both journalism and advocacy is truly humbling.”
