Golnaz Esfandiari is a Senior Correspondent in RFE/RL's Central Newsroom and editor of the Persian Letters blog. She served previously as Chief Editor of RFE's Persian-language service, Radio Farda and as head of the newsroom's Asia Desk. Born in Tehran, She has traveled to Afghanistan several times and reported on the country’s first parliamentary elections. An interview with the wife of Iran's most prominent investigative journalist, Akbar Ganji, was published in six languages (including English, German, Russian and Arabic) at the occasion of the 2006 World Press Freedom Day.

Golnaz has been interviewed by BBC World Service Television, FoxNews and Sky News, and is a frequent guest on Czech television (CT 24). Her reporting and analysis on Iran has been cited by The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy, The Huffington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and The Weekly Standard. In April 2010, Golnaz moderated a discussion at George Washington University on the Iranian blogosphere. She has also given interviews to Czech, Slovak, Polish, Argentinian, and South African media.
