Rim Gilfanov is the Director of RFE/RL’s Tatar-Bashkir Service. He has been with RFE/RL since 1990, initially working as a stringer and later as a broadcaster, a post he held until 2006 when he was promoted to Service Director. Before permanently joining RFE/RL in Munich in 1993, he wrote for the Kazan based newspaper ‘Donya.’  His writing is primaily concerned with ethnic and religious minority issues.
