30 January 2005 -- One policeman, three suspected militants, and a civilian were killed during a shootout today in the Kuwaiti district of Salmiya.
Kuwaiti television said that four security men were wounded, and one suspect was arrested.
News agencies report the shooting began when police and special forces sealed off several buildings.
Police cordoned off the Salmiya area, on the outskirts of the capital, in search of other suspected militants.
The latest gun battle follows several other clashes earlier this month which in which several security officers and terrorist suspects died.
