After Germany, Putin To Travel To Greece


8 September 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive later today in Greece for a two-day working visit.

The Greek government said Putin will meet Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis. The two leaders will meet in the northern town of Salonika, where Karamanlis will inaugurate a trade fair.

Putin was also expected to visit the 1,000-year-old monastic community of Mount Athos in northern Greece.

Putin will arrive in Greece from Berlin, where he will meet German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
