Syria, Russia Sign $370 Million Gas Deals


6 December 2005 -- Syria and Russia have signed two gas contracts worth a combined $370 million for the construction of a gas-processing plant and pipelines to transport gas from central and southern Syria.


The contracts were signed on 5 December on the Syrian side by Ali Abbass, head of the Syrian Gas Company and for the Russian side by the head of Stroitransgaz, Viktor Lorents.
