Putin, Bush Discuss Relations

23 December 2005 -- U.S. President George W. Bush telephoned Russian President Vladimir Putin today to discuss bilateral relations and exchange holiday greetings.

The conversation came hours after the Russian State Duma approved a controversial new law tightening the regulation of nongovernmental organizations.

The White House said the two leaders discussed the law, along with a range of international issues, including tensions over nuclear talks with Iran and North Korea.
