Russian Foreign Minister Visiting Athens, Rome


6 February 2006 -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today begins a three-day working visit that will take him to Athens and Rome.


In the Greek capital Lavrov is due to meet with President Carolos Papoulias, Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis, and Foreign Minister Petros Molyviatis.


Topping the agenda, according to ITAR-TASS, will be the current standoff over Iran's nuclear program.


On 7 February, Ivanov travels on to Rome for talks with senior Italian officials on the Middle East and the Balkans, as well as on bilateral ties.
