Romania To Pull Some Troops Out Of Iraq


Romanian President Traian Basescu (right) pictured at the Romanian contingent's barracks in Iraq in March (AFP) July 20, 2006 -- Romania's most senior military officer, Eugen Badalan, today said that Romania will recall 150 of its nearly 900 troops in Iraq.


The troops being pulled out perform policing and technical work.


About three-weeks ago, Romania's Supreme Defense Council rejected Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tarriceanu's call to pull all of Romania's troops out of Iraq.
