Russia Launches Military Satellite

The booster rocket is prepared for launch at the Plesetsk cosmodrome (ITAR-TASS) July 21, 2006 -- Russia today launched a military satellite from the northwestern region of Arkhangelsk.

A spokesman for the Russian military's space division said that the satellite will bolster the military network already in space.

The launch came one day after the Russian authorities postponed the launch of a rocket carrying a weather satellite. A reason for the postponement was not given.
