Two Police Killed In Daghestan Shoot-Out


(RFE/RL) July 24, 2006 -- The Russian Interior Ministry said today that two police officers were killed during a raid on a house in the Daghestani village of Endirei near the Chechen border.


Ministry spokesman Roman Shchekotin said one member of the group of armed men holed up in the house was also killed.


Clashes between militants influenced by the nearby Chechen war and local law enforcement authorities are frequent in the republic.
