Video Shows Bin Laden, 9/11 Plotters

Screen grab of the video broadcast on Al-Jazeera on September 7 (RFE/RL) September 8, 2006 -- Al-Jazeera has aired a video showing Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden meeting what it said were some of the September 11, 2001, attackers.

The Arabic-language news channel said the 5-year-old tape showed Al-Qaeda operatives training in the mountains of Afghanistan.

It identified two men in the tape. Ramzi Binalshibh, a suspected coordinator of the September 11 plot who is now in U.S. custody, and Abu Hafs al-Masri, a former top lieutenant of bin Laden who was killed in a U.S. air strike in Afghanistan in November 2001.

The tape also included what Al-Jazeera said were the last testimonies of two of the September 11 hijackers.

The release of the video comes days ahead of the fifth anniversary of the suicide attacks on the United States.
