Russia's Severstal To List Shares In London

Aleksei Mordashov, head of Severstal (file photo) (epa) October 6, 2006 -- Russian steel maker Severstal said today it plans to list its shares on the London Stock Exchange by the end of the year.

It gave no details on the size or the value of the initial public offering.

Severstal is one of Russia's largest steel makers. Earlier this year it tried to merge with European group Arcelor but lost out to Mittal Steel, the world's largest steel group.
