Bush 'Still Committed' To Iraq Despite U.S. Vote


Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq (file photo) (AFP) November 8, 2006 -- The U.S. ambassador in Baghdad said today President George W. Bush is still committed to his policy in Iraq despite losses suffered by the Republicans in mid-term congressional elections.


Zalmay Khalilzad said Bush was committed to working with both houses of the U.S. Congress to gain support needed for the mission in Iraq to succeed.


A videotape of what embassy staffers described as an internal briefing given by Khalilzad was broadcast on Iraqi state television.
