Bosnian Serb War Criminal Dies In Swedish Jail

May 20, 2007 -- Sweden says a Bosnian Serb war criminal has died from cancer in a Swedish prison.

A Justice Ministry spokesman, Rickard Wessman, said late on May 19 that Mioslav Deronjic, who had been serving a 10-year sentence for crimes against humanity, died early the same day.

Deronjic, a former vice president of the nationalist Serbian Democratic Party, had admitted ordering an attack on a village in western Bosnia in 1992. More than 60 Muslim villagers were killed in that attack.
