May 30, 2007 -- Afghan and U.S.-led coalition forces say more than 20 suspected Taliban fighters and seven police have been killed in fighting across the country since May 29.
Six suspected militants were killed early today in the mountains near the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad.
Locals denied the six were Taliban and claimed the dead were all civilians.
None of the claims could be independently confirmed.
In the southern province of Oruzgan today, four Afghan police were killed by a roadside bomb.
In the western Farah Province, on May 29 at least 14 Taliban and three police officers were killed.
Two militants also were killed May 29 in the eastern province of Nuristan.
