Bosnian Finance Minister Expects Single Currency After Elections

Sofia, April 15 (RFE/RL) - Bosnia-Herzegovina Finance Minister Mirsad Kikanovic said today that he expects a single currency to be introduced in his country after elections in September.

Three currencies now are being used in Bosnia-Herzogovina. The deutschemark is the main currency in use.

Kikanovic said that all regulations and provisions for a single currency have been prepared. He added: "We are in the process of introducing it." But, he said, the process is conditional on implementation of the Dayton peace accords.

Kikanovic made the comments at the annual meeting in Sofia of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
