Fighting in Grozny Kills One Russian Serviceman

Grozny, June 24 (RFE/RL) -- One Russian serviceman has been killed and two others wounded in Grozny -- hours before peace talks are due to resume in Grozny's Khankala suburb.

Our Moscow correspondent reports that the casualties occurred last night when Chechen separatist fighters attacked a Russian convoy.

There has been no word on Chechen casualties.

Today's talks in Grozny will find negotiators trying to resolve the details of implementing a June 10 military accord on withdrawing russian troops and disarming separatist fighters.

A separatist spokesman said no progress was made at the most recent talks on Saturday.
