  • Chris Klimiuk

Warsaw, 7 November 1996 (RFE/RL) -- Polish police are planning a nationwide protest action next week to call for pay increases and other benefits.

Our correspondent in Warsaw reports that the protest action is due to start November 12.

The leader of the Independent Union of Professional Police, Ryszard Szwagrzyk, told RFE/RL that the action will include decorating police stations with national flags and pickets by off-duty policemen of buildings, including the Parliament (Sejm) in Warsaw.
