Kyiv, 3 December 1996 (RFE/RL) - Ukraine's Prime Minister Pavel Lazarenko and Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Kaiim Khakkulov have held talks in Kyiv on economic cooperation. Yesterday's talks focused on Tashkent's proposal to ship six billion cubic meters of gas to Ukraine.
Ukraine's Government press service said Lazarenko and Khakkulov also discussed Ukraine's participation in the development of Uzbek oil-and-gas fields, and in the construction of export pipelines and oil refineries in Uzbekistan. Lazarenko is scheduled to lead a Government delegation on a visit to Uzbekistan this week
