Kyrgyzstan: State Medical Insurance Fund Planned




Prague, 13 December 1996 (RFE/RL) - A state medical-insurance fund will be set up in Kyrgyzstan for the first time in 1997. According to the state budget approved yesterday, every citizen will contribute two percent of his/her income to this fund. Kyrgyzstan's Health minister Naken Kasiev said he expects about $6 million will be collected in the fund in 1997.

Education Seminar Opens In Bishkek



A two-day meeting on improving education in Kyrgyzstan in 1997 opens in Bishkek today. Minister of Education, Science and Culture Askar Kakeev, along with other Government officials, will participate in a round-table discussion today. And President Askar Akayev addresses the meeting tomorrow.
