Prague, 19 March 1997 (RFE/RL) - About 2,000 Kyrgyz students gathered outside the Bishkek government building today to protest a city government decision to deny students subsidized public transportation passes.
Our correspondent said the students threatened to organize new demonstrations unless the situation was resolved before April 1, when the special transportation privileges now enjoyed by the students are to be revoked.
No one from the government met with the students.
