Warsaw, 8 May 1997 (RFE/RL) - Turkish President Suleyman Demirel, on the second day of an official visit to Warsaw, is scheduled to meet with Polish Prime Minister Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz today. Demirel also is to meet with parliamentary leaders and former President Lech Walesa.
Yesterday, after talks with Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, Demirel told reporters that Turkey would not block Polish membership in NATO. Kwasniewski declared that he was fully satisfied with Demirel's statement.
