Sofia, 11 June 1997 (RFE/RL) -- Our correspondent in Sofia reports that Bulgaria's parliament today approved the appointment of Svetoslav Gavriiski as the head of the Bulgarian National Bank. Gavriiski most recently worked as the finance minister in the caretaker government of Stefan Sofianski. He was nominated for the central bank post by the anti-Communist government of Prime Minister Ivan Kostov.
Gavriiski had worked as a deputy finance minister in all of Bulgaria's previous governments since 1990.
