Poland: Defense Minister Dobrzanski Begins Visit To Kyiv

By Kris Klimiuk

Warsaw, 18 June 1997 (RFE/RL) - Poland's Defense Minister Stanislaw Dobrzanski today opened a two-day visit to Ukraine, during which he will hold talks on bi-lateral cooperation with Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksandr Kuzmuk.

Our Warsaw correspondent reports Dobrzanski is due tomorrow to meet President Leonid Kuchma, Prime Minister Pavlo Lazarenko, as well as National Security and Defense Board Secretary Volodymir Horbulin.

In talks with Foreign Minister Hennady Udovenko, Polish reports say Dobrzanski intends to discuss a Polish historical military cemetery in Lviv. Top Polish officials have reacted strongly to recent reports that local authorities wanted to remove Polish-language signs at the cemetery.
