Czech: Klaus Leaves Britain Without Meeting New Government

London, 18 June 1997 (RFE/RL) -- Czech Prime Minister Vaclav Klaus cut short his visit to Britain today and left without meeting any members of the new Labour government.

Klaus had been scheduled to meet Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, but he was held up at the EU summit in Amsterdam, which ran into the early hours of this morning.

Klaus's trip was originally scheduled to last three day, but was cut down to one, in which he delivered two lectures and met officials at financial institutions.
