  • Chris Klimiuk

Warsaw, 25 June 1997 (RFE/RL) - Poland's President Aleksander Kwasniewski today meets in Warsaw with Bulgaria's visiting Vice President Todor Kavaldjiev. Poland's presidential press official says Kavaldjiev is holding talks with Polish officials on bi-lateral and international security issues.

Our Warsaw correspondent reports Kavaldjiev is expected to discuss terms for repayment of a big grain loan Poland made to Bulgaria during the Winter. Polish and Bulgarian delegations also have discussed increased agricultural trade, and Warsaw says Sofia has expressed interest in learning more about Poland's experience in restructuring the agriculture sector after the collapse of Communism.
