Central Asia: Three Prime Ministers Due To Start Talks


Almaty, 7 August 1997 (RFE/RL) -- The prime ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are due to meet in the Kazakh capital Almaty later today for formal talks covering a broad set of political and economic issues.

The Uzbek and Kyrgyz prime ministers arrived in Almaty earlier today along with their respective delegations. The Kyrgyz government's press service reported yesterday that 11 topics will be on the agenda of the meeting. Among the main isssues to be discussed are migration problems in Central Asia, transport problems, the export of electricity and water power.
