Tajikistan: Car Bomb Explodes In Capital

Dushanbe, 24 October 1997 (RFE/RL) - Security officials in Dushanbe say a car bomb exploded near the headquarters of the National Reconciliation Commission in the Tajik capital today, leaving one woman injured.

News agencies quote officials as saying the woman was hit by flying glass when the trolley bus she was riding in passed as the car bomb went off. No one has claimed responsibility.

Itar Tass reports that it was the fifteenth bombing in Dushanbe since September 10 in what is believed to be an attempt to disrupt a peace accord between the government and the Islamist-led opposition.
