Sofia, 29 October 1997 (RFE/RL) -- Three days of heavy snow have created emergency situations in dozens of Bulgarian villages.
Our Sofia correspondent reports that more than 60 villages in northwest Bulgaria are isolated, while efforts continue to restore electrical power to the area. In northeast Bulgaria, about 40 villages have neither electricity, nor water.
In the south, mountainous districts have issued appeals for urgent assistance. And, farmers in many regions are concerned about crops, still in the field, covered by the early snow.
