Bulgaria: Casino Owner Killed In Second Blast

Sofia, 16 November 2000 (RFE/RL) - A Bulgarian casino owner was killed today when a bomb exploded on a street in a suburb of Sofia. It was the second fatal bomb attack in the Bulgarian capital within 24 hours. Police say the victim had been under investigation in a case of fraud. Reports say the remains of bank notes also were scattered around the site of the blast in the Boyana suburb -- a neighborhood that includes the Bulgarian presidential residence and the homes of many of Bulgaria's former Communist Party elite.

Yesterday, two guests at the four-star Ambassador Hotel in Sofia were killed in a bomb blast. One of those victims was a 36-year-old Armenian citizen. Sofia Mayor Stefan Sofiyanski says the attacks may be linked to organized crime.
