DEMOCRATIC FORUM OF KAZAKHSTAN ORGANIZED SEVERAL ACTIONS
The Republican People's Party of Kazakhstan marked the 50th birthday of its chairman, Akezhan Kazhegeldin, on 27 March by forming a Public Found for Oil Reserves Control which is intended to control exploitation of Kazakhstan's oil reserves and prevent them from being stolen, party members told RFE/RL's Almaty bureau.

The party also organized a conference devoted to the current socio-political and economic situation in Kazakhstan and convened a round table discussion in which other political movements participated.

FOREIGN MINISTER MET US AMBASSADOR, UN HIGH COMMISSIONER
Foreign Minister and State Secretary Qasymzhomart Toqayev met on 26 March with U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Larry Napper to discuss the U.S.-led anti-terrorism campaign. They also discussed bilateral cooperation in the energy sector and Kazakhstan's investment policy.

Toqayev also met with U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Abdul Karim Gulam.

SENATE CHAIRMAN ATTENDED PARLIAMENTARY CONFERENCE IN ST.-PETERSBURG
Senate Chairman Oralbay Abdikarimov took part in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Conference in St. Petersburg that focussed on combatting international terrorism.
