Peace Protest Turns Violent In Tehran

A protest against the violence in Gaza organized by an Iranian peace group called "Mothers for Peace" turned violent in Tehran.

About 100 women's and human rights activists and intellectuals had gathered on January 11 in front of the Palestinian Embassy in Tehran to call for an end to the conflict in Gaza, when, according to an eyewitness who spoke to Radio Farda, a group of hard-liners started to attack them.

The woman told Radio Farda that the hard-liners appeared to be plainclothes security agents.

The website of Iran's One Million Signatures Campaign, which aims to gather support against discriminatory laws, has published a full account of the protest with pictures.
