Afghan Shi'a Mourn During Ashura Festival

Shi'ite Muslims are observing the religious festival of Ashura, which marks the death of Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, in the 7th century Battle of Karbala. In Afghanistan, minority Shi'ite Muslims express remorse for not being able to save Imam Hussein by flagellating themselves with steel blades.
