Coal Miners Killed By Mine Collapse In Pakistani Tribal Region

Reports from a tribal region of northwest Pakistan say seven coal miners were killed when the roof of a coal mine collapsed.

Local officials in Pakistan's semiautonomous tribal region of Orakzai said on December 24 that the mine collapsed in the area of Dowli.

It is in an area where Taliban militants remain active and have been battling Pakistani government forces.

Orakzai's top local administration official, Khushal Khan, told the AFP news agency that the bodies of the seven miners have been recovered and taken to their home town of Shangla.
