Authorities in eastern Afghanistan say they have recovered the dead bodies of seven Afghan soldiers.
Local residents found the corpses in Ghazni Province's Andar district on September 1.
Provincial Deputy Governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi said some of the soldiers were abducted while they were on leave visiting relatives.
He added that their bodies showed signs of torture.
The victims hailed from northern provinces.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the killings.
But Ahmadi said the Taliban are known to occasionally stop vehicles in search of people who are working for the Afghan government or security forces.
Meanwhile in the northern province of Parwan, authorities said a roadside bomb had killed eight Afghan employees of a private mining company on August 31. At least four others were injured in the incident, in Bagram district.
