The husband of jailed Pussy Riot member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova says his wife has been transferred from a penal colony in Russia's Republic of Mordovia to a penitentiary in the neighboring Republic of Chuvashia.

Pyotr Verzilov quoted unnamed sources on October 23 as saying that Tolokonnikova was either on her way or had already arrived in the town of Aladyr in Chuvashia, where she is expected to serve the rest of her prison term.

Tolokonnikova went on a hunger strike in late September to protest conditions and alleged death threats by officials at the penal colony in Mordovia.

She ended her hunger strike after one week when prison authorities promised to relocate her but resumed it on October 18 after authorities failed to relocate her.

Tolokonnikova was jailed for two years over a protest against President Vladimir Putin's rule in a Moscow cathedral in early 2012.
