Secretary of State John Kerry said that the United States had committed to a range of projects in Central Asia. Kerry hosted five foreign ministers for talks on August 3 in the so-called "C5+1" group -- comprising Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, plus the United States. In his opening remarks in Washington, he said the U.S. government would help foster regional cooperation in counterterrorism, trade, and transport, and had set aside $15 million to boost clean energy projects in the region.
