Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said today that three Italian aid workers arrested in Afghanistan on April 10 have been released.

The Italians, working in the volatile Helmand province for the non-governmental organization "Emergency," were suspected of participating in a plot to kill a provincial governor.

Italy has some 3,000 troops serving in the NATO-led coalition fighting against the Taliban in Afghanistan.
