Gates Says Pentagon Planning On Iran Is Advancing

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates says he is satisfied with the pace of Pentagon planning to counter the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program.

Speaking along with Gates at a Washington news conference, visiting Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said the Jewish state expected any new UN sanctions on Iran to be "effective and to be limited in time."

Earlier Tuesday, Barak met with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who said Washington is seeking tough new sanctions to "sharpen the choices that Iran's leaders face."
