IMF Raises Its Economic Growth Forecast For Kazakhstan

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said that Kazakhstan's economy will grow by 5.4 percent this year, exceeding the 4.0 percent growth rate the fund had previously predicted.

An IMF report issued in Almaty said the higher growth is driven by high energy prices and an economic upswing in neighboring Russia.

The report also predicted that Kazakhstan can expect to see similar growth rates around 5.4 percent in 2011 if oil prices remain at or around current levels.
