The State Department transcript of a meeting between Secretary Hillary Clinton and visiting Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi kind of makes you wonder why they bothered to send it out:

SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, I’m delighted to welcome the vice president here today. He has already had the opportunity to meet with the President, the Vice President, and this afternoon we’ll have the chance to go into more detail about what’s happening in Iraq and the kind of challenges that are being faced and overcome every day. So welcome, sir.

VICE PRESIDENT HASHIMI: Thank you very much.

SECRETARY CLINTON: Thank you very much.

VICE PRESIDENT HASHIMI: (Inaudible) the United States.

SECRETARY CLINTON: Thank you. My pleasure.
