OSH, Kyrgyzstan -- Mass livestock deaths are expected in some regions of Kyrgyzstan due to weather-related causes, experts are warning.
Sanavar Momuntayeva, a farmer in southern Kyrgyzstan, told RFE/RL’s Kyrgyz Service that his livestock have already started dying.
Hay prices tripled in the southern Osh region last week as local farmers were not able to harvest enough hay due to the summer draught.
Heavy snowfall has also complicated animal feeding.
Farming is the main source of survival in Kyrgyzstan's remote towns and villages.
