NGOs Ask Moldovan Politicians To Publicize Finances

CHISINAU -- Two nongovernmental organizations are asking that the financial disclosures of political candidates in Moldova be made available to the public, RFE/RL's Moldovan Service reports.

Politicians would "gain in credibility" by declaring their assets online, according to the Independent Press Association and the Anti-Corruption Association. Both have offered to publish politicians' financial status on their websites.

Moldovan law dictates that politicians fill out financial disclosures annually, but the documents are currently not made public.
