Remembering Bhutto Through Rap

The Internet and blogoshpere is abuzz with the rap song that 18-year-old Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari sang in honor of her mother -- the former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto killed just a year ago.

The video of her song, "I would take the pain away," has been a hit on YouTube with 60,000 views so far.

It's an even bigger hit in Bhutto's home region. The BBC reports that the Sindhi-language press in Benazir's home province of Sindh have already published a translation of Bhutto's song.

The Pakistan People's Party that her father, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, and elder brother currently are leading has a cult-like following in Pakistan.

So to get the message out -- and because Internet access is still rare in many parts of Pakistan -- party loyalists have already started distributing the song on CDs.
