MOSCOW -- Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko has called OSCE comments on the investigation into the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya "biased" and of a "provocative nature."

The statement comes less than a week after a Russian jury acquitted four men charged in connection with the October 2006 contract-style killing of Kremlin critic Politkovskaya.

The OSCE said last week that the failure of Russian authorities to properly investigate Politkovskaya's 2006 killing and protect other journalists and rights activists amounted to a "human rights crisis."

Nesterenko's statement accused the OSCE of "ruining its reputation" by making such comments.
