A suicide car bomber has reportedly targeted a NATO military convoy near the southern city of Kandahar, killing and injuring several Afghan civilians.
Afghan police could not say whether foreign troops suffered any casualties.
A spokesman in Kabul for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said he could not immediately confirm details about the reported attack.
But a spokesman for Kandahar's provincial governor quoted initial reports that said three civilians were killed and at least nine were wounded.
The governor's spokesman said the attack took place as the NATO convoy was passing near a small bazaar, with a mosque and a petrol station, where civilians were vulnerable.
