The United Nations today announced that it will close its offices in Peshawar for two days following a deadly April 5 attack on the U.S. consulate in the northern Pakistani city.

At least seven people were killed, four of them militants, when the heavily armed gunmen tried to storm the U.S. consulate in Pakistan.

The Pakistani Taliban reportedly claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The United States on April 5 expressed "great concern" over the assault, which came hours after some 40 people died in a suicide attack in northeast Pakistan.
