MOSCOW -- Two unknown attackers today stabbed a saleswoman in a downtown flower shop in Moscow and made off with 1 million rubles (almost $33,000), RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

The wounded woman was hospitalized and her condition is reported to be grave.

This is the third robbery of a flower shop in the Russian capital in the last two days.

In Russia, flower shops traditionally make significant profits on International Women’s Day, March 8, and the days before, as many men buy flowers for women.
