ULAN BATOR -- Uzbekistan is intensifying its diplomatic relations with Mongolia, RFE/RL's Uzbek Service reports.
Uzbek and Mongolian foreign ministry officials held their first-ever consultative meeting in Ulan Bator on September 23. The sides discussed bilateral political, economic, trade, and humanitarian relations.
Uzbek Foreign Ministry official Saidkamol Azamhuzhaev told RFE/RL that the meeting was a success, and the two sides are in agreement on most issues.
Mongolian media reported that the volume of trade between the two countries last year was only some $300,000.
